St Philips Christian College, Nulkaba - Junior School Extension

This project provided an additional 4 classrooms (each large enough to be split into 3 learning spaces achieved by using the internal textile partitions) 1 serviced learning space, internal gallery, drama area, staff offices and interview rooms, health clinic, Staff common areas, study rooms and an amenities block. Access to each level can be achieved via the stairs, elevator or internal slippery dip. The main difficulty of the project was that construction of the second stage occurred while the first stage was operational. This created safety issues which were overcome by constructing a large hoarding across both levels. This in turn required additional management for access and coordination to ensure the facility experienced minimal disruptions to their day to day operations. Structural and services provisions have been incorporated into the design of this building to allow for the addition of future stages which will tie in seamlessly to the east. The result is a dynamic, fun learning environment for Kinder to year 2 students.
