The NSW Government contracted North Construction and Building (North) to improve accessibility at the heritage-listed Dubbo Station as part of the Transport Access Program, with the project completed in March 2024. As a result of these works the station precinct is now accessible to people with a disability or limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers with luggage. Works included bathroom upgrades, access paths, waiting rooms, carpark works, lighting upgrades, and platform compliance works. Heritage remediation works included tuck pointing brickwork to match existing, joinery works, replacement or rectification of Australian hardwood timber floors and timber framed windows and doors. The station had a list of heritage hold points that required photos /consultation and approval from the heritage architect throughout the construction works.
Project Highlights & Key Features:
• Upgrades to existing paths and pavements around the station precinct
• A new accessible kiss and ride zone
• Modifications to the station waiting room, café and ticket counter, including wheelchair spaces along the seating
• New tactile indicators along the platform
• Improvements to lighting and wayfinding
