North Construction & Building maintains its reputation as a trusted building partner in 2025, with a 4 Gold Star rating under the independent Construction Industry Rating Tool (iCIRT).
iCIRT, developed by Equifax in partnership with industry and government, is designed to help people make better-informed choices about who they work with in construction. It assesses thousands of data points on things like company capability, conduct, capacity, capital, character and capital, and awards ratings between one and five Gold Stars. Only businesses with three stars or more are listed on the public register, giving buyers and industry partners a clearer picture of those with a proven track record.
While iCIRT was originally built with the residential sector in mind, North Construction & Building has pushed for greater participation from the commercial sector to lift standards across the board.
“Independent, data-backed assessment is essential for trust in our industry,” said John Melvin, North’s CEO. “We believe the commercial sector has a responsibility to lead on quality and accountability. Our rating reflects the strong systems, people and culture we’ve built over decades.”
The NSW Government introduced reforms like iCIRT to rebuild confidence in the construction industry after years of public concern about quality and reliability. By making this information public, the system aims to reduce risk for buyers, investors and partners—and encourage continuous improvement among builders, developers and certifiers.
Currently, iCIRT rates builders, developers and certifiers, with plans to expand its coverage to include designers, engineers, suppliers and manufacturers in the future. This broader rollout will offer even more transparency for the whole industry supply chain.
