Volkswagen Showroom and Service Centre

Client: Volkswagen

VAlue: $2,500,000

Architect: SJH Planning

Project Details

This project required significant site remediation and demolition prior to construction being able to commence. Previously being the site of a heavy truck workshop the site contained considerable contamination that needed to be removed during the civil works component of the project. The workshop slab and portal frame was retained and incorporated into the showroom.

The portal frame was kept from the previous shed with some minor modifications to suit the layout. Internal lightweight frames were installed and the external cladding is a combination of Alucobond, glass and masonry. The workshop that adjoins the rear of the showroom is a standard portal frame with metal cladding to the walls and metal roof.

The total project now consists of a new 500m2 showroom and presentation bay, a 1000m2 workshop and spare parts centre and over 2000m2 of hardstand to the car yard. The site also boasts a 65,000L stormwater reuse system.
