Bulimba Early Learning Centre

North was engaged to construct Bulimba Early Learning Centre. The project comprised of a 3-storey early learning centre plus basement carpark, located close to the Brisbane River in Bulimba.
The project involved a number of complexities which were managed by North including dewatering and construction of a wet basement including Acid Sulfate Soils management. The site was adjacent to live high voltage and a transformer and there was only one street frontage for access with residential and commercial properties on all boundaries. The building’s structure is mostly block and concrete, with post tensioned suspended slabs to each level. The upper level is light weight steel framing with a Colorbond roof. A mixture of feature claddings have been used to complete the infill and upper level walls, as well as extensive glazing. Internally finishes are a mix of specialty carpet, hybrid flooring laid in a parquetry pattern, feature trims and custom designed joinery, all fit for purpose.
