North Construction & Building is proud to announce that Nicole Redmond and Mark Chase have been appointed Director – People, Culture & Corporate Services, and Director – Business Operations, respectively. They join Matthew Cook, Managing Director; Ray Millar, Director – Estimating; and John Melvin, Director – Construction Operations; as members of the expanded board, whilst Sarah Wouters, Finance Manager, takes on the role of Company Secretary.
These latest organisational changes follow on from the expansion of the company shareholder group last year from 12 to 15 employees with Mark Chase, now Director – Business Operations, Tom Glynn, Systems Manager, and John Wild, Senior Project Manager Specialist Projects, all buying into the business.
“North has come a long way since its beginning in 1987, where we were based out of a small office in North Gosford,” expressed Matthew Cook, North Managing Director. “With growth and expansion also comes the need to adapt our business operations to best serve our employees, trade contractor partners and clients, as well as ensure our business continues to thrive for the next 35 years and beyond. This expansion is a further step to ensuring that happens.”
Cook went on to say, “Nicole has been an integral part of North since 2011 and I’ve appreciated working alongside her for all those years with her valued input and leadership helping to make North what it is today.
“Mark joined North in 2019 and since that time, he’s been an invaluable member of the senior management team given his immense industry experience.
“Leadership and governance in any business is incredibly important. We are laying the framework to take North to the next level and cement our presence in the regional construction landscape more broadly.”
Nicole joined North in 2011 as Office Manager, transitioning to Corporate Services Manager and Company Secretary in 2016, then becoming a shareholder in 2018 to now take on her current role as Director.
“I am truly excited about the opportunity to be a part of the North Executive Leadership team as we navigate the next phase of our growth,” expressed Nicole Redmond, Director – People, Culture & Corporate Services. “With a continued focus on our culture, our values, and our wonderful people, I look forward to building our capabilities to meet our future business needs.”
Mark was recruited into the business in 2019 bringing with him more than 25 years in the construction industry. Mark’s industry experience and passion for construction have contributed immensely to the organisation through his initial role as Design & Construct Manger, then as Pre-construction Manager also becoming a shareholder this past year, to his current Director role.
“Nicole and I bring greater diversity of thought, experience and skills to the Directorship of the business,” explained Mark Chase, Director – Business Operations. “This will be critical as we build on the solid foundations North has already developed over the past three decades.”
North’s future success and growth will continue to be driven by striving for excellence across the business, both on- and off-site, with the company’s five corporate values – trust, excellence, respect, relational and fun – embedded in all that they do.
This is entrenched in not only North’s Specialist Projects team who deliver projects under $3.5m but also within their major works department delivering projects up to $50m.
North’s service offerings and delivery regions will continue to grow with a strategic and committed focus on people; with measured plans underway to grow and diversify further.
“I’m proud of where North has come from and where we’re headed,” Cook said. “We’ve got a strong team of extremely capable and committed people, positive corporate culture, solid reputation and strong systems that will all see the business grow well into the future.”
