Project Details

The renovation of the John Hunter Hospital Emergency Department was a swift and controlled process, with the need to adhere to stringent dust control requirements. Being one of the busiest Emergency Departments of the NSW health system, the project required significant logistics and programme management by North.

The works were undertaken in a working hospital environment with a requirement that the Emergency Department remain open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. As such the project was effectively completed in two stages, by renovating half of the department and then swapping and renovating the remaining side of the department. A further constraint was the co-ordination with the neuro and cardio operating rooms on the floor above to avoid vibrations through the floor during surgery.
