Project Details

Built for the Wyong Council, the Berkeley Centre delivers a much needed community centre in the Berkeley Vale area. The centre consists of a community hall, activity rooms, kitchen, child-care facilities and offices all for the use of the general community and various community groups. The construction consisted of a raft slab on ground, structural steel frame, metal roof and light-weight infill walls. Particular attention was required to the architectural detailing of the exposed structural steel and the various finishes materials used. The finished building provides a functional and serviceable community facility representing excellent value for the building cost of $1.7M.

The high level of finish attained for a small, competitively tendered community project reflects the level of attention given to the finishing trades by the project team. Input from numerous end users throughout the project required flexibility and co-operation from all on the project team.
