The Wyong Art House project is the new cultural centre of the Wyong Shire Council. The building contains community areas and meeting rooms, a dedicated studio for exhibitions, a performance space with flexible seating that can seat 130 or retract to allow the space to be used for functions, a box office and the purpose built 500 seat performing arts theatre with a 5 storey fly tower, in fact the only theatre between Chatswood and the mid north coast have a fly tower.
Budget was initially a concern however an intensive value engineering study was completed allowing the project to eventually move through to construction. Construction difficulties involved considerable challenge with materials handling, particularly with a 5 storey cast in-situ concrete tower at the centre of the building. Highly detailed acoustic panelling and finishes, often comprising of multiple layers of varying construction material also required substantial co-ordination to ensure that the finished product met all specified requirements. These acoustic requirements often linked back to the structure requiring a thorough understanding of the final requirements even in the initial stages of structural set out.
